Family.
All is well en la Esperanza. We are working hard and trying to reach all the new goals that President Smith has recently set. He is doing a new thing where the whole zone goes to the temple and then after we have a zone meeting with him and his wife and talk about how we can be better and change and have success. We were the first zone to do it and it went so well. I always love love love being in the temple and receive so many answers and so much guidance there. You guys are so lucky to have the opportunity to go to the temple whenever you want. Take advantage of that. But he put a lot of standards for things we should be doing and reaching and it stretching us a lot but we will receive the blessings and needed help from the Spirit. I know that miracles are real.
Today is Independence day here. We had to enter the house at 6pm on Saturday and Sunday because of the parties and the drunks and everything. It was soooooooooooo boring. But I read so much of the Book of Mormon and we had some good times. Mí chiquita, Hna Cordova, is the best. She wanted to touch the ceiling this week and was so frustrated that she couldn´t so she climbed on top of me and touched it and was so happy. hahaha I have no idea why she wanted to do that but she is so fun. I love her.
Earlier this week we had to go to a meeting in Xela and there weren´t any buses passing by... finally my comp suggested that we walk to another corner to see if one passed down a different street. We started walking and just as we got to the corner a bus came. We hopped on and sat on the back row, so squished, with everyones chickens and baskets and food and children on top of us. Suddenly the bus made another stop and a girl with headphones got on. She looked around and there weren´t any seats and nobody scooted over for her. I felt a strong impression that I needed to. I tried to scoot over and everyone looked at me like they wanted to kill me and I squished all their things to the side and tried to make room for her. She sat down and took out her headphones and said thanks. I asked what her name was and she told me and then said that she was a member of the church. She just looked at me and started crying. She said ¨I was praying last night that Heavenly Father would give me a sign to help me know if I am in the right church. I was pondering my testimony as I walked to the bus and when I got on and saw you guys, I just knew that it was my answer.¨ We talked for the 15 minute bus ride and it was one of the most special spirits that I have ever felt. I love members of the church that try to stay faithful until the end, no matter how hard life may get.
We also met an inactive man´s daughter named Michelle and she is 19. She is so pilas! She said that she always saw here dad with the Book of Mormon but didn´t really know what is was. And she told us that she never felt right being in the catholic and the evangelic churches (the 2 biggest religions here). She always felt like there was something more. We started teaching her the restoration and she was basically just finishing all of our sentences as she connected the dots and as the Spirit taught her heart and mind. She loved it and said that she would love to come to church and prepare for baptism. Keep praying that she can go strong.
I am finally rid of my cough but I am grateful that I had it because it helped us to meet Amarilys. She works in the pharmacy right by our house and so we had to pass there all the time for cough medicine. She just separated from her boyfriend and said that she was looking for a way to get closer to God. She loves loves loves to read so we gave her a lot of folletos and the Book of Mormon and she has been reading everything. She came to church on Sunday and loved it. She said that her boyfriend was calling her again and that stressed me out. So we did a quick lesson on chastity. Then as we were walking to church she said ¨Hey just to let you know things are going better with my boyfriend and we are planning a wedding for November because I told him that I would not live with him without being married.¨ haha yes! I was so happy. She is great. Pray that she can gain a testimony of the Restoration.
I loved the time that I had to read the Book of Mormon this week. It was so special to me. I could just feel the spirit witnessing of the truth. There is no other church that can tell so great a story. A young boy receiving a visit from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Ancient books of scriptures being translated and taken to all the world. Elijah and other prophets restoring priesthood keys. Temples, covenants, ordinances, and family history work.This is the true church of Jesus Christ. He lives. He atoned for our sins and made possible to way to salvation. Like Dad always sings to me-
¨Feet on the path. Hand on the rod.
Moving steady, steady towards God.
Heart on the Truth, eye on the Tree.
