Familia.
It has been a wonderful week, full of adventures. I am almost got eaten by a turkey in a lesson and then I had to help a member kill her rooster for her husband`s birthday dinner. That was interesting. We have a new companion! Hermana Cordova from Ecuador, has 8 siblings, and loves this area. She is so great. So happy and helpful and kind and funny. She was in my same room in the CCM in Guate and we had a blast there. It will be so much fun to have here her with us. Changes are next Tuesday and Hermana Gonzalez will be heading out. We can`t talk about it too much or we cry. But it will all work out. The Lord always blesses us with all that we need, and His timing is always perfect.

We need to pray for the family Polio. They just got news from the owner of the house that they are renting that she might be kicking them out soon so that her daughter can live there. They would have to go back to El Salvador and they really so not want to do that. The Lord has a plan and it will all work out. But keep them in your prayers.

Esmeralda is doing so great and getting ready for Saturday. She is such a special girl and we are so grateful to know her.

Jenny is also doing so well! She has progressed so much in her english just from reading the Book of Mormon from almost a week straight. She reads every day and know I taught her how to pray correctly in english and she says that she feels like the Book of Mormon is true. She was so happy and almost crying when she prayed for the first time out loud for us in english. The spirit was so strong. She explained everything that happened in chapter 1 last night and just listening to her little voice with her accent talk about Lehi and his family and his vision brought tears to my eyes. I love the Book of Mormon and I love knowing that it is true. It is one of the most powerful tools that we have on this earth to teach people about Jesus Christ. President taught us from the introduction pages and told us that the main purpose of the Book of Mormon is to CONVINCE us that Jesus is the Christ. He talked about how our mission is to teach and testify, and the mission of the Spirit is to convince and convert. I loved that.

As I was reading in Alma 7 I just felt the spirit testify to me strongly that Jesus Christ lives and that his Atonement is real.

12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

I just imagined the Savior saying-  "Father, I need to be able to help these people. I need to be able to empathize and understand their pain. So I want a headache, I want to feel the hurt of someone with cancer, let me feel what it is like to have a broken bone. I will feel what is it like to lose a child or a parent, what it is like to say goodbye to someone that is dying. I want to feel the pain of divorce, and hunger, and want for shelter. Give me their sins and the anguish of their souls. And as I feel and suffer all these things I will learn how I can help my brethren. I will know how to comfort them in their affliction, how to take away the pain. And if I can`t take it away, I will know how to bless and comfort and succor and bear them up. And then I will give my life so that when they must die, they too can be resurrected. If they will just turn to me and let me carry them, heal them, help them- I will lead them to eternal life. And if they will just repent and obey, they won`t have to suffer so much. And I will prepare a place in the mansion of my father. They will receive back their hair and their limbs and strength and sight, and their souls will rest there for all of time and eternity, with you Father. That is what I want to do for them. Here am I, Father. Send me."

Matthew 11

28 ¶Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I truly do need Him every hour. I want to be His friend. I am learning how to let Him know that He can trust me and talk to me. I am so grateful that he left us His spirit. What a precious gift and promise.

You guys are the best. Thanks for everything. I love you so much and miss you and pray for you always. Let us all press on.
